1. Who is Your CD Guy?

Your CD Guy is David Steele.

Chances are pretty good that you already know me in some way, but in case you don't, here is a brief rundown-

2. Why are you doing this?

Good question. Only one valid answer- because I love it.

General wisdom for entrepreneurs is to focus on your core business and don't spread yourself thin. In this case I take inspiration from one of my mentors Thomas Leonard, founder of CoachU and Coachville, and one of the most prolific writers, mentors, and entreprenuers I've ever known. At the peak of his success and a very busy guy in high demand, he took the time to design the logo for Relationship Coaching Institute because he enjoyed doing so and wanted to support my new venture (at the time) to be successful.

Private practice professionals are very special people. Most are unique, talented, passionate, knowledgable professionals who love their work and area of expertise, care deeply about their clients, and sincerely want to make a positive difference in the world.

Again and again I've found myself very excited about the work of my colleagues and have volunteered to support them by producing an audio program that showcases their work for the world. Here are a few examples-

3. Do you ever sleep?

No, I have chronic insomnia. Just kidding! I get this question a lot because others find it hard to believe that I fit in all the things that I do. After 25 years in my profession I've discovered a rich vein of creative and entreprenuerial gold when I transitioned my practice from therapy to coaching and have made it my full-time job to go where my passion takes me. I delight in supporting you to do so as well!

4. Why do you call an audio CD a "magic wand?"

Over and over again I've seen my results double, triple, and even quadruple when I added a promotional/educational CD to my marketing. See Tell Me More for some real-life examples. In my experience, an audio CD seems to be the single most effective marketing device you can use for generating prospects and getting high paying clients. Almost like a magic wand!

5. How can I use an audio CD to boost my practice?

A. To Get Prospects

  • Website- opt-in offer
  • Presentations- hand out in exchange for contact info
  • Referral Sources- give them some to build referral relationship, educate about your services, and to pass along (and they will)
  • Viral Marketing- high perceived value that gets passed around

B. To Convert Prospects to Clients

  • Give to prospects as follow up to initial contact
  • Ask prospects if they know anyone who wants one
  • Invokes Law of Reciprocity (more inclined to hire you if you provide value first)

C. Boost Public Relations Efforts

  • Print Media- send to editors and reporters who cover your area of expertise
  • Radio- send to radio hosts and show producers likely to be interested in featuring you as a guest on their show
  • Television- send to news and talk show producers likely to be interested in featuring you as a guest on their show

  • Back of room sales for seminars and presentations

6. How does this work?

Step Two: Fill out Your CD Guy questionniare

Step Three: Interview by telephone with Your CD Guy

Step Four: Your CD Guy edits your audio, adds music, etc

Step Five: You review and approve audio

Step Six: Your CD Guy creates and sends your master

Step Seven: Depends upon your choice of Silver, Gold, or Platinum package

Silver Package:

  • Together we produce a promotional/educational audio program up to 72 minutes long
  • Edited for content, verbal clutter, tracks and transitional music added if desired
  • Master CD ready for duplication
  • MP3 audio file suitable for your website

Gold Package:

  • Includes everything in Silver package
  • 100 copies of your CD with customized two-color label (black on silver)
  • 100 paper CD sleeves with clear window
  • May purchase additional copies of your CD at discounted price

Platinum Package:

  • Includes everything in Silver and Gold packages
  • Flashplayer and download link of entire audio program or clip for your website
  • Podcast distribution of your audio program, including your own listing in iTunes
  • Permanent, dedicated web page for your audio program including your photo, bio, supplementary info (if desired)

7. What's the cost?

Private Practice Magic rates:

Silver- $495.00

Gold- $595.00

Platinum- $695.00

CD reorder- $95.00 for each multiple of 100 (includes paper window sleeves)

Options- For two or more people on CD, or to edit your existing audio program, add $100.00

8. How long does this take?

From start to finish can be a few days or a few weeks depending upon your package and your efficiency in following through with the pre-production steps and approvals needed. If you're pushing a deadline, rush orders are available for an extra charge.

9. Do you guarantee the quality of the CD?

We work together until you are satisfied. Realize there is no such thing as, and no need for "perfection" ... to the contrary, your listeners will be more engaged by you and the audio program for being "real." The outcome is a combination of my skills and your preparation and presence. My job is to help you communicate your expertise and passion for your work in a way that attracts prospects and convinces them to hire you. The resulting product will be as good as or better than the initial case studies here. Most likely your CD will be BETTER because those were earlier projects.

10. Does it have to be an interview? What are my options?

Like Burger King, you can have it your way. Here are some options for your audio program-

  • Interview by Your CD Guy
  • Interview by person of your choice
  • Interview by voice-over professional (I can get you a great deal on this)
  • You read from a script
  • Voice-over professional reads from your script (ditto above)
  • Interview combined with voice-overs for opening and closing
  • Tracks or no tracks, transitional music or no music
  • Your CD Guy can edit and modify an existing audio recording if you prefer

11. Do you do video or DVDs?

No, I don't do video, though I can edit your video and duplicate your DVDs. Contact me for more information.

12. I'm just getting started, how do I know I'm ready for this?

Some questions for your consideration:

  • Are you clear about your target audience? (the people you want as clients and who you would give the CD to)
  • What is their biggest problem, challenge, or goal that you can use as the title to capture their attention?
  • Are you clear about what you do for your target audience?
  • Are you clear about the benefits of what you do for them?
  • Do you have some personal experiences to share that are relevant?
  • What does your target audience need to know about their problem and solution?
  • What are your top five tips or guidelines for addressing their biggest problem, challenge, or goal?

If you can answer these questions you have enough to be ready to market your practice (with a CD or anything else).
